A Lesson in History

In 1912, Japan bestowed upon Washington DC a gift of 3,000 cherry trees. William Howard Taft, our president at the time, was probably like, WTF??!!???? Little did he know that these little saplings would one day become one of the district's largest (and by far the prettiest) tourist attractions.

Today, the cherry blossom festival lasts a whopping TWO weeks and its various events and performances attract nearly 100 million visitors! Just kidding, I have no idea how many people make the pilgrimage every year - but it was hella crowded on Saturday when I was there. These two ladies were the headliners on the steps of Jefferson's memorial on Saturday afternoon - they were very graceful and toddlers LOVED them! Anyway, if this blog has inspired you to take Friday off and head south for the last weekend of the festival, DC2NY luxury bus tickets only costs $40 round trip...
